Year 12&13 Father and Son Mass & Breakfast 2026
The Father and Son Mass and Breakfast, held on Friday, 28 August in the Chapel, was not only the last for the year, but the last that many of our seniors will attend as students. Celebrated by Fr Stephen, the blessing of fathers to sons and sons to fathers was a treasured moment for many.
At its conclusion, Mr Gareth Fraser offered his thoughts on parenting boys. Given that he and Caroline have four boys — George, a leaver from last year, and Sam, Harry and Ted, currently here — his words came from practical experience. He shared five specific thoughts:
Thought One – We are all completely different.
Thought Two – We are capable of anything.
Thought Three – We need to invest time in our relationship with each other – don’t check out!
Thought Four – We need to get involved and contribute.
Thought Five – Trust is earned.
Unbeknownst to him, his second son, Sam, gave a right of reply, thanking not only his dad personally, but also reminding everyone present that it is easy to take people and things for granted when growing up. He reminded us that it is important and wise to take time to remember, be grateful, and say what you want to say while you can.
